we took the boys to the river this morning so they could splash around and we could sit and drink coffee. they loved it!
climbing around on the rocks.
hold on! (they were a little bit slippy.)
king of the world!
standing on the rock.
and then one of the older boys that was there started shouting that he found a turtle. so we ran over to see.
hmmmm. that was enough to send me packing, but not the boys. they still wanted to play.
and then this happened.
can you see it?
how about now?
yes. that right there is a snake. a skinny but long snake peeking out of the same rocks the boys had just been climbing on. that was enough to send us all packing. i don’t know much about snakes except 1) the water ones might possibly be poisonous and B) i don’t like snakes.
next thing we knew we found ourselves at toy ‘r us. the boys were not done with playing in the water and they can be quite convincing …
safe and sound and (hopefully) snake-free in our brand new purple elephant paddling pool in the back yard. ahhhh. the perfect amount of “nature” for this city girl.
